They always said, stay in school and get your education. If the music doesn’t work out, you’ll have something to fall back on. Luckily I had the music to fall back on when the education was slow. Like education, business is something I do because I enjoy it, and I’ve been very fortunate in that regard. That’s not to say that business has always been fortunate, but I’ve always enjoyed it, especially helping others. I often wished I’d considered education and music more connected, but playing music and academics always seemed in tension rather despite the overlap in so many ways.

I became interested in electronics in high school because of my interest and need to fix audio components, electric guitars, guitar effects, and stereos. That fueled by interest in physics, enough to get my school teaching license in physics and math. Constantly fiddling with electric guitars and amplifiers morphed into digital gear including recording, MIDI, and computer audio, alongside of teaching science and math and live music performance. After exploring a business building Electric Wood Amps, custom exotic wood cabinets and tube amplifiers, we took over Rocket Music musical instrument retail.
